Did you know?

• Youth unemployment in Western Australia is as high as 18.3 per cent.

• 3,500 apprentices lost from 2008 to July 2010.

• During the last boom we had thousands of engineers working in the oil and gas sector in WA.

• In 2011 engineers are forced overseas to work on WA projects.

Labor has a plan to keep jobs in WA by:

• ensuring a fair share of engineering, manufacturing and fabrication jobs for WA;

• ensuring deals done with the government will be available for all to see;

• allowing local businesses to compete on a level playing field; and

• ensuring the benefits of the mining boom flow into local workshops.

    A dramatic increase in the number of Western Australians feeling financially worse off has been recorded, in the wake of large annual increases in the price of electricity, gas and water over the last three years.

Labor introduced a Skilled Local Jobs Bill ensure the Barnett Government takes responsibility for engineering, manufacturing, fabrication and construction sector workers and companies receiving a decent share of work from the State’s mineral wealth.
